Navy League Saturday, April 10th, Vietnam War Living History Day
This event will take place on on board the USS New Jersey and will commemorate the New Jersey's re-commissioning for the Vietnam War. No registration is required but there is a cost associated with this event. Call 1-866-877-6262 for information. See here for more details.

The Manions Council Annual Meeting - December 20, 2011
The final meeting of the year was held at Bala Golf Club. Our very special guest was Coach Dick Vermeil who spoke on the Seven Principles of Leadership. Having spent many years as a successful coach and sports analyst, Coach Vermeil is now an award winning vintner and owner of Vermeil Winery in the Napa Valley. Council business included the unanimous approval of the nominated slate of Council board members and the welcoming of two new board members RDML Kenneth Braithwaite USNR (Ret) and CDR Eric Humphreys USN (Ret). A Navy League Life Member pin was awarded to Mary Anne Murphy and soloist Priscilla Coblentz Cohen entertained the gathering with holiday and patriotic songs. Pictures are here.

Congratulations to our elected directors Re-elected for a 3 year term - Charles Bohnenberger, Kenneth Braithwaite, Stephen Chadwick, Mark Haas, Eric Humphreys, Everett Keech, Jack Lieberman, Fran O'Brien and Kelly Preski Newly elected for a 3 year term - Kenneth Braithwaite, Eric Humphreys.

Navy League National Convention Elects Philadelphia Council Members
On Saturday Oct 29, 2011 at the Navy League’s National Convention in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Philadelphia Council Members CAPT Jack Lieberman USNR (Ret), and Fran O’Brien were elected as National Directors of the Navy League. Jack and Fran join National Council Board members Art Judson, Patrick Pang and Ed Sobieray, who were re-elected to new terms. On National Council, these members will represent our region and our council in matters related to the mission of the Navy League, including enhancing the morale of active duty personnel and their families, supporting youth programs such as the Naval Sea Cadet Corps and Junior ROTC, or educating members of Congress and fellow citizens on the importance of strong sea services. CAPT Lieberman has been a life member since 1979 and a Board member since 1984. Fran O'Brien is the recent Past President of the Council and currently serves as our Director of Communications. Congratulations to all !

The Manions Commodore Barry Award Dinner, September 1, 2011
This year's recipient of the Commodore Barry Distinguished Citizen Award are Janet & Colonel Tom Manion USMCR (Ret), founders of the Travis Manion Foundation. Begun in honor of their son Lt. Travis J. Manion USMC, the Foundation's Mission is to assist wounded, disabled veterans and families of Fallen Heroes and continue their service to community and country; to foster strength of mind and body to create a generation of future leaders.
Our Guest Speaker was  General Joseph F. Dunford USMC, Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps.
