President's Message

Dear Council Members..

Our summer peaked with the reception on board the USS Bulkeley on July 3rd. Not only did our Council meet a wonderful CO and crew, we were serenaded by the Philadelphia Orchestra and saw amazing fireworks. Not a bad way to celebrate our country’s independence.

In this edition of PTW, you’ll see that that Seapower Magazine featured our Council in its current edition. Special thanks to Council members Brian Burlingame, Charlie Bohnenberger, Jackie D’Angelo and Anselm Sauter for helping with this Anchor Program outreach.

Volunteering in your blood? Your time and energy are needed for the new Sea Cadet Unit – USS San Antonio - that is forming in the Lower Bucks County/Northeast Philadelphia area. Read further to see how you can help. September is Sea Cadet month and we are proud and happy to support this group, led by Lt. Joan Larkin.

This month’s edition includes two new features….

Our Adopted Units. Ship’s sponsor Anna Mae (Mrs. Wayne E.) Meyer will keep up posted on the latest news about USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) and USCG Committee Chair Dick Kearney will deliver news about the USCG Sector Delaware Bay.

Council Spotlight….. This feature will highlight a long-time or new Council member who merits our attention. Your suggestions for the Spotlight are welcome.

Remember to support our upcoming Navy Day Luncheon (October 5th) and Golf Outing (October 11th). If you are not able to participate, please consider sponsoring a local active duty member of the military so s/he can participate.

Fran O’Brien
Council President
